The story of the Artist

An artist living in North Vancouver, I'm inspired by nature and walks in the forest. I seek out the greenery of trees, leaves, moss and the unexpected beauty of blooms that grow wild.

I grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland where I studied in the Scottish Borders and obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Textile Design. Following graduation I lived and worked in Montreal and then Vancouver. During a career working in the textile and clothing industry as a designer, my most loved projects were always creative - designing prints, patterns and sketching out garments by hand. With my degree being very art focused, each project began with extensive drawing and painting exploration prior to the development of a fabric. My love and need to draw and paint has continued and I have always tried to create pockets of time throughout a busy life to satisfy that.

After many years at home raising young children, I now have the opportunity to return to my much loved roots with a regular painting practice. With the forest on my doorstep in North Vancouver, inspiration is in abundance.
